George's Dorchester was carved out of St. Andrew's. 1718 Congaree Fort, the first frontier post in central South Carolina, was established. September 27. Colonel William Rhett defeated the pirates, of whom Stede Bonnet was the captain, in a naval battle in the Cape Fear River. Page 21 October 17. An act for the more speedy trial of pirates was passed in order to punish them quickly. December 10. Stede Bonnet was hanged at White Point between high and low tide. 1719 December 10. The first step in the Revolution of 1719 (in which the Carolinians overthrew Proprietary rule) was taken when the Assembly transformed itself into a convention of the people.

The legislation created seven judicial districtsCharlestown was one district; Beaufort, Orangeburg, and Ninety Six made up the Southern circuit; Georgetown, Cheraw, and Camden comprised the Northern Circuit.
